Once again, I love Illinois in the Fall! I had two places in this Dave Viklund Clinic this fall, one for Mazikeen, and the other split with Chunky, Fiddle, and Uke.
Once again, Mazikeen and I worked on keeping her shoulder off the stock, and switching to driving back to gathering.
Chunky, it turns out, was avoiding my pressure to get to stock, which isn’t what we want. So i had to rework some of what we were working on.
Uke we worked on gathering stock, and even tempered handling.
There were a LOT of lessons that I, as a handler learned about when to push, and when to hold, and how to set criteria and communication so the dog can actually learn!
