Dave Viklund – Burlington, IL

I always love working with Dave Viklund. I had two working spots all four days. One for Mazikeen (trying to cross into advanced level work), and Rory and Chunky split a spot.

Chunky has been struggling a bit with catching the eye of her sheep and not moving along to balance, OR, she overflanks and doesn’t rate correctly, so we spent a lot of time working on holding pressure, setting up a drive, and working on holding lines to me, and then beyond me for the driving. She has been working so hard, but we have a list on how to settle.

Rory was also having issues with rate (pushing way too hard) and sliding pressure past the bubble. So we really worked on getting her to settle. We worked flanking, rating, and keeping the group settled and under control while moving together. She has a lot of spit and fire and really needs to hold pressure where it needs to be held.

Mazikeen, we were working on fixing her slight overflanking, stopping, and inappropriate leaning on her stock too early in the outrun. Then, maintaining control, contact, and correct rate of complex groups of stock while driving. She is getting so much better!
