We decided to travel to Florida to compete on some fresh calves, and it turns out, we have A LOT of work to do! I had this really big effect on the cattle, and I was just always in the way, and was trying to overcompensate and really just messed things up. I have to continue to work on staying cool and calm. The judge we had on the weekend doesn’t work cattle with her own dogs, so we has some great conversations on how to judge that.
Fiddle and Mazikeen were trialing in intermediate. They did some really wonderful stuff out there, including the free standing pen! Mazikeen finished in first place in the Intermediate class on Friday, and Fiddle ran out of time (she was really into holding pressure).
Chunky picked up a started cattle leg as well on Friday, even though she is a bit overeager.
Rory showed Friday and Sunday, and we got a good fetch and some good driving around the arena, but we really were out there to get experience with the cows.
