Larry Painter Clinic in Berryville, VA

Well, for the first time ever, I wasn’t actually attending the clinic as a participant, but as a worker. It was my job to get stock set, order the food, bring in the coffee in the morning, and create the run order and logistics. HOWEVER, we were allowed to do a bit of work and training, both in moving stock AND at the end of the day.

Mazikeen: Worked a lot on fetching cattle, getting outruns bigger, changing flank directions on the fly, and stopping with all 3 stock types.

Fiddle: Did some sorting of cattle, worked on driving some on ducks and sheep, and then worked on bigger outruns and getting some rate and distance.

Chunky: Worked on intermediate sheep skills. Getting bigger outruns, flanking on the fly, and holding the line and pressure.

Rory: Worked on getting bigger distance and rate on outruns, moved cattle between fields, worked details on started cattle, holding the pressure in the pocket, and patiently pulling stock off the fence. Also did some drive and fetching of ducks.

Also got some useful tips on what I was doing wrong in trialing cattle when I audited, so, was very happy overall!
