One of my favorite part of the ACD Nationals is that we have our test classes on cattle. So, little Mr. Sue was allowed to do his HT on cattle! I was so pleased with the effort he gave in the dying light! The judges wanted us to get him razzed up a bit, but … More ACDCA Nationals – Sue
Chunky made her debut in Intermediate Sheep and Cattle. She really gave me wonderful effort… and one errant sheep got a nose bite, which got us excused, and in cattle, we couldn’t quite get everything down, so we got NQs (which is better than being excused). I just can’t wait for where our future is … More ACDCA Nationals – Chunky
Like her mother and sister, Rory (Cordell x Fiddle) did a wonderful job at nationals! She also participated in the versatility, finishing 7th in Conformation, 3rd in her rally novice debut with a wonderful score of a 97, and finished 3rd on started cattle. Her and Fiddle were within 10 points from each other, and … More ACDCA Nationals – Rory
Aside from being the most titled Top 20 herding dog, Mazikeen also competed in the Versatility Competition, and finished in second place! She took 9th in Versatility conformation, 3rd in Advanced Rally, and 4th in Advanced Sheep! I am super excited for the future with her!
September was a month dedicated to herding. Pretty low key, but we accomplished a lot. September in Review September 6-8th: Herding at Isle of Calais in Smithfield, VA September 14th: Herding in Berryville, VA September 19-22nd: Herding at Flying Bucket in Hemlock, NY September 28th: Herding in Berryville, VA
Well, it turns out that Mazikeens litter didn’t take. So, instead of whelping puppies this weekend, we went out to Berryville to work cows, ducks, and sheep. Mazikeen, Chunky, Sue, and Rory worked cattle, and Fiddle and Mazikeen worked sheep. I am very proud of what my dogs are offering me! Gotta keep working hard … More Herding in Berryville, VA
We went to Flying Bucket farm to hang out with our friend Anya! We worked a LOT of large flock work, both driving and fetching. It took some time for the dogs to figure out where to push to get the flock to move, but I was very pleased with the effort that everyone gave … More Herding at Flying Bucket
I didn’t take any static pictures from this trip to Berryville, for some reason. However, I did take many videos which I posted to facebook and instagram. This video is a compliation of everything that we worked on. Driving, not pattern training, and being secure on stock. Sue is developing some, and Rory is now … More Herding in Berryville, VA
It is always one of my favorite experiences to travel down to Auntie Terri’s House. She has helped me grow as a handler SO MUCH, learning to be comfortable and confident, as well as getting my dogs comfortable and poised while driving long distances and doing farm work. Fiddle and Mazikeen drive ok, but once … More Herding at Isle of Calais
