Larry Painter Clinic in Berryville, VA – Fiddle

So, for the first two days of the Larry Painter Clinic, I worked Fiddle in one working session a day for the first few days.

Fiddle doesn’t really have the cover speed to cast out super wide to peel the running cows off the fence. We had to work on casting out REALLY WIDE to get them to stop running. She was super happy to do it, but we struggled some on controlling heads, as the dun cow and larger black cow (top right) wanted to MOVE, and the third cow didn’t want anything to do with them.

We had to practice outs and flanks.

Even though she didn’t have a working clinic spot most days, it was her job to round up the cows first thing in the morning, get them into the pen, sort them into the working groups, and push them out. She really loves and lives for those small pen jobs.
